My Sister is Visiting Me!

Welcome back to another blog post, once again long time no talk… the winter semester had me booked a busy! I ended up getting high B’s in the two classes I took and I’m very proud of myself for accomplishing that while still working full time,,, go me!! My sister Lily graduated college this semester and I had a big road trip planned to attend her graduation, but then gas prices sky rocketed :( it would have cost over $500 in gas to get everywhere I was going and back. I decided that was not my best idea. I ended up buying a plane ticket for my sister Lily to come visit me. We are beyond excited for this trip together. We’re planning tons of fun things including a weekend away in Grand Rapids.
I’ve been doing some research online about the things we should do and lily has been sending me tiktoks of stuff to do. We are for sure going to the commons, a 70s themed bar and restaurant in GR. We’re also planning on hitting up as many thrift stores as we can all over the state. We’re going to the beach at lake Michigan, and I want to take her to the Detroit institute of arts. I still need to think of more things to fill our time – if you have any suggestions, please feel free to comment them.
Lily has only been to Michigan once and it was for my high school graduation and she only stayed like 2 days, and we didn’t get to spend any time together…. Sad. I’m so excited to show her around town and the places I go every day. Being long distance sisters is very hard. Me and ¾ of my sisters are long distance sisters. My 4th sister lives close to me sometimes, but during the school year she lives in west Michigan. It hard for me I would love to have an unbreakable bond with my sister but either they live too far away, or they don’t want that type of relationship, so I am left alone. Seeing Lily is so exciting because I haven’t had good quality sister time since my birthday in November with Lily.
Growing up in the summers Lily was my best friend. We were close in age and experiencing the same home life together. We we’re always together playing or gossiping; it was definitely a blast and something I will remember forever. Now we get to bring those memories into adulthood with a weeklong sleepover with each other. Again, I CANNOT wait for her to arrive. I will be busy cleaning my apartment before then, but I’ll be sure to come back and update y’all on how the trip went.
