Back to School Season
Hey…
It’s becoming a thing… months between posts on this blog. Lots has been happening in my life, though. I’m currently going to school full-time and working full-time. I’m busy all the time, and I never get a day off, but I'm enjoying myself. I’m on campus all day on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a 4-hour break between classes. I’m currently on a class break and writing this. Typically, I do homework on my break, but right now my brain feels like mush. I’m taking marketing, business communications, and jewelry/ metalwork right now, with Intro to Hotel Systems starting on October 12th.
The jewelry/ metalworking is definitely the most fun class. So far, I’ve learned about riveting and soldering. The riveting is pretty easy, but the soldering took me forever to get done. We made a ring for our second project, and I had to solder it 4 different times before it finally worked the correct way. In the end, it worked out, and I really want to make more! People I work with have been saying I should sell them after I showed them the ring. I’m not sure if I will, but it is something to think about.
There is a night market at the school for holidays, and I was thinking about having a table there…? But I’m not positive yet. I could sell my decorated lighters and show off my scrapbooks. Maybe I could have an option to buy a custom scrapbook? It’s completely free for students to be vendors, but it would require me to get started on some lighters… and I'm unsure if I have time for that right now. I don’t know if I would even have time to make custom scrapbooks if that’s what people wanted. But it’s something I would like to do.
Back to my classes, my other favorite class is business communications! So far, I have an A in that class. The coursework so far has been so fun! We had to build a LinkedIn profile recently, and I had a lot of fun doing that, even though it really stressed me out. We also had to create a resume from scratch. That took me like 3 weeks to get done because I kept having to submit it to the school for them to approve it or tell me what to change. But I got it done 2 weeks before the due date, so yayy.
Our next big project for business communications is a business report. The focus of my report is jobs available in hospitality within tribal nations. My goal after I graduate is to work for the Cherokee Nation, so this will be helpful for me. I’ve spoken with my dad and my sister, who already work at the nation, and they said they would help me with all of my primary research. Right now I should be looking up different secondary research, but… this blog post is more fun lol.
My hair is getting long again; it’s past my shoulders, and I’m able to French braid it. I’ve been braiding it all week, and I think that’s going to be my new go-to style. The issue with being as busy as I am is that I don’t have time to take care of my hair. I now know what my aunt meant when she told me the first time she shaved her head was in art college because she didn’t have time to maintain it. I get it; I really do. I’ve dyed it pink and blue, but it needs to be dyed again; it’s faded quite a bit since it was last dyed. I think I'm going to change up the blue dye I use. I’ve been using the Color Ion Jade hair dye since I was 19, but I used it most recently when I dyed my hair and… I feel like it’s different than before. The color was a bit off, and it did not hold up in my hair as long as it normally does.
I’m still making time for my friends despite being busy. Karissa is coming over tomorrow, and I hung out with Rachel last week. I might ask Karissa if she can help me dye my hair tomorrow…? Undecided on that one. There is a band I like called Cherokee Social that is having a concert in Michigan in a few weeks, and I think Karissa is going to go with me! I’m super excited about that. I’ve also been making time for the gentlemen in my life. Lansing boy came over on Sunday when I got off work – we had a good time, and he took me out to breakfast in the morning. I really like him; he makes me feel at peace.
That’s all I have time to write right now! I need to go find myself some lunch
